My 2027 Dream F1 Grid

The truth of Formula One is that it should be ever changing. Whether it’s the regulations, teams, or drivers, we don’t want to be seeing the exact same thing every year. So, just for fun, I decided to put together what my dream F1 grid would look like in 5 years. Keep in mind, this is simply for my own enjoyment and if I leave out a driver, it’s not because I don’t like them. This is all for fun and games and is not to be taken too seriously. Since the 2023 season hasn't begun yet, this is going to be the 2027 grid. I don't want to think about 2028 yet!

Scuderia Ferrari: Charles Leclerc and Oliver Bearman

I am a firm believer that Charles Leclerc is world championship material. Whether or not Ferrari can give him that remains to be seen, however I do think that due to the up and coming young drivers, Ferrari is his only chance. In my perfect world, Charles Leclerc would have already won several championship titles in the course of these five years. And in 2025, I could definitely see Ollie Bearman having a shot at a Formula One seat. Ferrari isn’t known for giving young drivers a chance, but if Charles does win a championship for them, they might be willing to start placing their faith in younger drivers. The main reasoning behind dropping Carlos Sainz from Ferrari in my prediction is that I don’t believe that Ferrari will suit Carlos in the end. Ferrari has made it abundantly clear that they are placing all their faith in Charles and that has left Carlos a bit on the sidelines. So, Charles Leclerc and Oliver Bearman for Scuderia Ferrari in 2027.

Mercedes AMG Petronas: George Russell and Nyck de Vries

This was a bit of a tough one seeing as it is totally probable that Lewis Hamilton could still be racing in five years. He has made it obvious that he is interested in staying in F1, but I do believe that at this point he will have taken a step back. While there are young and very talented drivers in the Mercedes Junior Programme, I do believe that Mercedes will want to go with someone who can really take the motorsport world by storm and perform just as well if not better than George Russell and I 100% believe that de Vries is capable of that!

Red Bull Racing: Liam Lawson and Dennis Hauger

Everyone and their mother are fans of Liam Lawson and Dennis Hauger. They are both incredibly talented and seem to be very nice guys. Max Verstappen, Christian Horner, and Helmut Marko have all said at some point that they don’t believe Max will stay in F1 forever, because he has other passions he wants to follow and his goal isn’t to break records like other drivers. So I believe that Max will have stepped aside at this point. I also believe that Sergio Perez is running out of chances with Red Bull. He has been a massive help to Max, but has also made several mistakes. He also doesn’t seem to be happy with the fact that Max is always the priority. Therefore, I have a hard time believing he’ll stay with Red Bull much longer.

McLaren: Oscar Piastri and Pierre Gasly

I know Pierre just moved to Alpine, but this is my dream grid ok? I think Lando is talented, but I just can’t see him staying with McLaren much longer and I think Pierre will want to be with whatever team can help him get consistent race wins. With Oscar, I think that he’ll perform well this year with McLaren and I think he will only get better as time goes on. I think this would be a pretty unbeatable pairing for McLaren. CarLando 2.0

Alpine- Jack Doohan and Esteban Ocon

With Esteban I am pretty confident will stay with Alpine throughout the remainder of his F1 career. They have a good relationship and he’ll always be a good asset for them. As far as Jack Doohan is concerned, I think it’s a given that Alpine will do their best to find him a seat in F1. He’s had some bad luck in F2, but overall he’s a pretty consistent driver.

Audi- Mick Schumacher and Lando Norris

Since we know Sauber is going to make the switch to Audi, I imagined the grid with Audi instead of Alfa Romeo. Audi has said they would definitely want a German driver and at the moment Mick Schumacher is the most obvious choice. With Andreas Seidl at the head of the team, I’m sure he’ll succeed in dragging Lando away from McLaren. Mick and Lando are both young and talented. I truly believe they would work very well together.

Andretti/Haas Autosport- Colton Herta and Marcus Armstrong

We all know how much Haas has struggled with finances for years. I think that it’s quite possible that in order for Andretti to enter F1, they’ll simply just buy the Haas team. I thought it obvious that Colton Herta would be the first choice. I had a tough time thinking of who the second driver would be. I kind of figured they would want a driver familiar with the European racing scene, but also someone who had experience in IndyCar. And with Marcus Armstrong joining the IndyCar grid this year, maybe this is his opportunity? I think Marcus was an underrated talent in F2 and F3 and was often overshadowed by all the bad luck that plagued him.

Alpha Tauri: Jak Crawford and Enzo Fittipaldi

Both of these drivers are currently members of the Red Bull Junior Team and are very promising talents. Jak Crawford is an American driver who had a decent run in F3 last year with Prema, but has made the step up to F2 for this season and I think he will perform very well. Enzo Fittipaldi earned a spot on the Red Bull Junior Team after a fantastic run in F2 last year where he impressed absolutely everyone!

Williams: Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Paul Aron

Both of these drivers are Mercedes Junior Drivers, but I think that it is extremely unlikely that they’ll manage to make the jump up to the main Mercedes team in 5 years. I think it’s more realistic that Mercedes has them both drive for Williams to gain the experience necessary. Both are now just rising through the ranks of the lower formulas, but are both very talented.

Aston Martin: Dino Beganovic and Felipe Drugovich

The most unrealistic part of my dream grid is the fact that I got rid of Lance Stroll. But I think that over the next 5 years, if he really can’t show any improvement, then his father will have no choice but to get rid of him. Felipe Drugovich is the obvious choice, as he is currently the Aston Martin Development driver. Dino Beganovic is a less obvious choice since he has just made the move up to F3, and is currently a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy. However, with the amount of talent in the FDA right now, I think that over the next couple of years, the grid will be overrun by Ferrari Junior Drivers.

So there we have it! My dream F1 grid for 2027! What do you think? What changes would you make? Let me know!
